He found great joy in being around students and faculty while elevating the world around him. He was known as a trusted mentor, advocate, and friend.
Outside of work, LaMar had a deep love for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed golfing, motorcycle riding, watching airplanes, and spending time on the lake. His passion for the lake was so profound that he affectionately named his favorite beach destination “LaMar’s Tree" because of a single, large, beautiful tree that would mark the meeting place for beach days.

Dave and I visited Lamar and his wife Annette in the spring of 2023 at their home. They were wonderful. Lamar had Menieres' disease which affects the inner ear and balance. His quality of life was difficult. He was diagnosed in 2009. Besides his work as a custodian for the school district, he built beautiful cabinets.
