"Val" Valoran Arvin Samuelson

VAL SAMUELSON OBITUARY

Val A. Samuelson 1954 ~ 2010 CORNISH - Valoran "Val" Arvin Samuelson, 55, passed away Sept. 16, 2010, just four weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. Val was born Dec. 12, 1954 to Valoran (Boe) W. Samuelson and Jeneve Heugly Samuelson in Salt Lake City. Val grew up in Midvale and Riverton, Utah, where he spent a lot of his time raising and showing livestock. Val served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Birmingham, England. He later met his sweetheart, Colleen Lingmann, and they were married on Nov. 16, 1979 in the Salt Lake Temple. Val was an active member of the church and served faithfully in many different church callings. He was considered a "Jack of all trades," and was a talented salesman, ring man, and carpenter. He also had a lifelong love for livestock and agriculture. He enjoyed cooking and loved to feed people. Val was a very friendly, outgoing person who always seemed to know people everywhere he went. Val is survived by his wife, Colleen; his children: Jay, Jill (Ian) Weaver, Katie, and Spencer; his grandson, Kip Weaver; his mother, Jeneve; his sisters, Nancie (Dale) Curtis and Robyn (Mark) Nilsson; and his father-in-law, Orson Lingmann. Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 24, at 12 noon at the Cornish LDS Chapel, 11400 N. Highway 23, Trenton, Utah, and are under the direction of SereniCare Funeral Home in Ogden. Friends and family may pay their respects Thursday night at the church from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m., prior to services.
