Obituary

James Earl Rosenhan was born October 10, 1954 in Murray, Utah. He was the seventh child of eight born of Alberta Nevada Woolf and Alfred Harold Rosenhan.

His childhood was spent in Midvale, where he enjoyed most running around with his many siblings and neighborhood friends. The home his parents built was at 830 East and 6400 South, and while there is now a Crystal Inn there with businesses all around, it was at the time a perfect place for a young boy to run, play, and grow.

When he was twenty years old he was inspired to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and accepted the call to the England London South mission. He loved his mission immensely and made and kept many friendships with the people he met there.

On August 15, 1978 he married Patti Sue Dillman. They raised their four children Rachael, Michael, Jillian, and Vanessa in South Jordan, Utah, a block in front of the Jordan River Temple.

The children agree that summer trips to Lake Powell were the highlights of those years. Jim loved being on his boat, he loved to waterski, he loved watching his kids swim and play.

He enjoyed the peace and beauty of all the outdoors and passed it on to his family by taking them camping in the mountains and hiking in the National Parks.

Jim also loved reading and enjoyed epic historical novels and the biographies of great men including the Apostles and Prophets of the church. He always loved the Gospel, he loved vacuuming too, but he loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ the most. His faith was steady, he was steady, in all he did.

He worked hard and taught his children to do the same. He took on the challenge of being self-employed for the majority of his career as a steel detailer. He loved everything to be neat and tidy and his vocation full of straight lines and perfect angles reflected that.

He married Tracy Carol Day on July 4, 2012 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Tracy was the love of his life. In their time together they lived fully.

They spent a year living in Tracy’s home country of England. They went to Hawaii, New Zealand, Paris, and Switzerland. They enjoyed the beauty of Utah, keeping Lake Powell a favorite along with criss-crossing the state to see everything else.

Jim passed away calmly in the morning on February 14, 2022 in St. George after a lovely goodbye with those closest to him. He is now reunited with his parents, his oldest brother, and two of his sisters.

Throughout his life he was grateful. His testimony stood on his gratitude to the Lord, knowing he could never deny how perfectly he had felt the Master’s love. He was always reminding his family to count their blessings and even in the end, the last words he said to his bride were, “Lucky me.”
