MICHELLE MIDDAUGH OBITUARY

Michelle Middaugh 1955 - 2007 Michelle Middaugh, age 51, passed away peacefully in Portland, Oregon on July 1, 2007, after a courageous five-year struggle with neuroendocrine (carcinoid) cancer. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Being with her family and friends was the most important thing to Michelle, and she particularly adored her nieces, nephews and their children. Her unwavering kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity, optimism, strength, courage and zest for life touched us all. Michelle was born on November 30, 1955, to S. LeRoy and Marilyn Helen Torgersen Middaugh in Salt Lake City, Utah and was a faithful lifetime member of the LDS Church. She grew up in Sandy, Utah, graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1973 and earned her accounting degree from the University of Utah. Michelle was very intelligent and excelled in her studies and work. She was an accountant for the federal government for over 25 years, winning many awards for her work. In addition to living and working in Utah, Michelle's career took her to Wiesbaden, Germany for four years and to Davenport, Iowa for the last 12 years, where she worked for Defense Finance &Accounting Services. She had just moved to Portland mid-June and was living with her sister and brother-in-law at the time of her death. Michelle loved to travel and was thrilled that she had visited all 50 states and dozens of countries. Her sense of adventure was never dimmed, even during her illness. The family wishes to thank the many friends, church members and medical personnel who loved and helped Michelle throughout her illness. Michelle is survived by her brothers, Kevin (Stephanie) Middaugh and Craig (Dianne) Middaugh; sister, Tanya McCabe (Ron); step-mother, Phyllis Middaugh; step-sisters, Lynn Tapp, Vicki (Wayne) Davis and Lisa (Steve) Urie; nieces, nephews and their children; aunts, uncles & cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her nephew, Michael Scott Middaugh. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 7th at the Eastmont Ward, 1280 E. Turquoise Way (10020 South) in Sandy. Family and friends may call from 7-9pm on Friday, July 6th at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 So., Sandy as well as at the Eastmont Ward from 10-10:40am prior to the funeral service. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City. Flowers can be sent to Larkin Sunset Gardens as listed above, and tax-deductible donations can be made to the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society at 2724 NE 20th Avenue, Portland, OR 97212 to fund research and education for this rare cancer. Michelle, thank you for gracing our lives with your lovely presence, and we send you on this new journey with much love and gratitude.
